Can a job find out if you are using VOIP or a landline phone?
I am set to start a new job working from home and she asked me if I had a landline phone. I currently have VOIP through my cable provider and I love it! Is there anyway that they will be able to tell if I am using the VOIP instead of a landline phone? I only need to use it until 2 weeks from now. That is when the landline phone will be installed.
I will be taking inbound customer service calls. I just want to know if they will know.

What our clients are saying?

Just because you are using VoIP doesn’t mean that you are running a business.
They won’t find out if they look through the lookup.
Don’t worry.
The guy that mentions about look up never tried it on VoIP and being a smarty pant.
The reason VoIP “drop” are dues to internet or computer system problem. I am using Skype and I don’t find any problem with it.
GHETTO, you been reported for spamming.
THEY CAN DO A REVERSE NUMBER LOOK UP TO SEE WHO OWNS THE PHONE NUMBER. like mci.att.verizon.or vonage too. so Yes they can
They problem with VOIP is that the connection dropped more easily than with a landline. As long as you haven’t had a problem with calls dropping, you should be fine. This is especially important in a customer service position, and why they asked. If you’re dropping calls, and they think you have a landline, they’ll just assume you are hanging up on the customers.
